Low-voltage work covers a broad category of wiring that operates at 50 volts or less — security cameras, smart home devices, structured data cabling, AV systems, intercom systems, landscape lighting controls, and doorbell wiring. Demand for this work has grown steadily in Hood River and The Dalles as homeowners add smart home systems, vacation rental owners add security infrastructure, and new construction includes structured wiring from the start.

Smart Home Wiring
Smart thermostats, smart lighting systems, motorized shades, and whole-home automation require low-voltage wiring and, in many cases, proper placement of line-voltage power at device locations. We work with smart home systems from Lutron, Control4, Josh.ai, and standard Z-Wave and Zigbee platforms. For new construction and remodels, we pre-wire for smart home systems during rough-in. For existing homes, we assess what can be installed wirelessly versus what benefits from hardwired installation.
Security Cameras and Access Control
Hardwired security cameras (IP and analog), video doorbells, access control panels, and alarm system wiring. Hood River's vacation rental market generates particular demand for camera systems — both for security and for guest verification. We run Cat6 for IP cameras, install POE switches, and ensure proper power is available at each camera location. For exterior cameras, we install weatherproof junction boxes and ensure proper conduit through exterior walls.
Structured Data and Audio/Visual Wiring
Cat6 Ethernet runs to offices, entertainment systems, and smart TV locations. Coax for satellite or cable. Speaker wiring for in-ceiling and in-wall audio. HDMI and AV cabling for home theaters. We do structured wiring in new construction during rough-in and in existing homes by fishing cables through walls and routing through accessible spaces. A wired network is more reliable than WiFi for any device that matters — NAS drives, smart TVs, security systems, and home offices.
Doorbell and Intercom Systems
Video doorbell installation (Ring, Nest, Eufy) including transformer upgrades when existing doorbell wiring doesn't supply enough voltage. Whole-home intercom systems for larger homes. Gate intercom systems with electric strike or magnetic lock integration for properties with gated driveways.
Landscape and Low-Voltage Lighting
12V landscape lighting systems with transformer installation, path lighting, uplighting, and deck lighting. We coordinate landscape lighting with line-voltage outdoor circuits when the project calls for both — keeping all electrical work under one contractor rather than splitting low-voltage and line-voltage across different crews.
New Construction and Remodel Pre-Wiring
If you're doing a remodel or new construction in Hood River or The Dalles, now is the time to pre-wire for anything you might want later — even if the hardware isn't installed yet. Running Cat6 to living room walls, speaker wire to ceilings, and conduit for future outdoor camera locations costs very little during rough-in and is expensive to add after drywall. We'll walk through the plan with you during the rough-in phase.
